Composing

Melodyvision has composed music for film and TV, as well as modern dance and ensembles. Rodney received an Emmy for his composition for Mother Dot’s Philadelphia.

Ryan Saunders called with an urgent need because he had lost all the music for his documentary Mother Dot’s Philadelphia: The Music Continues, and the show was set to air on PBS in just a few days. He asked if Rodney could compose music for a documentary about the early days of jazz in the city of Philadelphia. Even with a small budget, Rodney said he could pull it off with a Jimmy Smith organ trio and some Joe Pass guitar sounds. Ryan said yes and within 24 hours set off to write the score for Mother Dot’s Philadelphia, which would go on to win a regional Emmy.
